The Commissioner has called for input, regarding the rules that will be associated with HB3  – in some ways, it’s the rules that get specified that really help define the benefit that the legislation represents.

Here’s a short way to distill an important thing for input – “how can we be sure that the funds provided to a District (for G/T programs and services) are being used for that purpose, and/or effectively used, and perhaps, how does this utilization correspond to what is called for in the State plan for gifted programs and services ?” -

in other words, what accountability measures might be good ones to require.

Now, this is just a piece of it, but it certainly (particularly read together with the state plan) could be a piece parents might have suggestions regarding. Over the weekend, I’ll send  along some more “background” materials, but yes, we are going to have a Focus Group meeting both nights (Mon/Tues) from 7-8.30 at the KISD Education Ctr., 350 Keller Parkway, Texas Rooms I and IV – we are truly under a short timeline gun, unfortunately, but creating this input is an important, and great opportunity…

It is, in some ways, what creates the practical implications for that legislation to have been enacted…
