Higher level books more suitable for younger kids
I found this on the Mensa Bright Kids listserve & since I have trouble finding books for my 10 yr old to read, I figured some of you might as well. If any of you know of more books that your children like to read, please post comments to this post so we can have a list for everyone. I have also found Henry Winkler’s (yes, Fonzie writes kids books now!) series Hank Zipzer to be wonderful for boys. My son plowed through every one of them (after complaining that he didn’t want to read them & he wasn’t going to. I have a 5 chapter minimum that he must read in a new book before he can say he doesn’t like it.)
Classics, Shakespear’s plays, Mark Twain, Great Books, Jack London,
James MichenerJames Bond stories
Isaac Asimov, (I, Robot; Foundation; just about anything he wrote -
about 500 books!)Ursula Lequin (nearly anything)
Anne McCaffrey (Dragon series, and others)
C.J. Cherryh (Chanurr series, and others)
Frank Herbert (Dune series)
Eoin Colfer (Artemis Fowl series, Supernaturalist, Wish List) These
are fast, fun reads, with very interesting ideas.
