Building Resiliency… An Evening with Dr. James Webb
Thursday, April 26, 20127:00 p.m.
Lovejoy High School Auditorium 2350 Estates Parkway Allen, TX
presented by Lovejoy Gifted AssociationStress, perfectionism, and depression are frequently found in gifted children and are related to their intensity, sensitivity and idealism. Although gifted children need challenges, undue stress, perfectionism, and depression have negative effects on their lives. These excessive traits seldom come from specific situations or tasks. Instead they are more likely to come from what we say to ourselves about the events and about ourselves. This workshop focuses on such concepts as self-talk, irrational beliefs, and self-management of stress. Specific techniques are described to help prevent and overcome perfectionism and depression, along with ways to build habits of resiliency.
